Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is well known for her music. She was the first woman of her generation to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Born in London She spent her first few years of her life traveling between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi at the tender 13 years old. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. While she's still young Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. Her father was with her in many performances for several years. She released her debut album in 1998. debuted Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. The album was titled Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. As she's appeared on every major stage in all over the globe, her stage career has been extensive. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't limited to music. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which is a respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as the role of a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's professional career is continuing to grow and we can expect to see a variety of things from her in the years to come. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her youth living between London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she went to high school. When she was nine years old, she started studying music with her father making her performing debut with the sitar four years later at his birthday party in Delhi. Anoushka gained a lot of experience touring the world with the father. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage period, as well as recorded for George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
