Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" place. The West Island has a lot of different communities. Many who've never known about it may mistake it for an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island wasn't. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but due to an explosive growth spurt she outgrew the dance partners she had. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. After I surpassed my male counterparts, that's when I gave up. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. In the case of Bruce, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her into this path. One of her teachers suggested she take part in an audition for the annual school play. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Over the last 20 years, her work has been seen on both the large and small screen. The most notable was her recognition when she landed her role as Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actress in the season 1 and was only seen at times.
